NWF Supporting Heart Screenings

Why we are funding Heart Screenings

A sudden catastrophe cardiac event could happen to any young person without warning. Every week in the UK 12 apparently fit and healthy people – all aged 35 and under – die from a previously undiagnosed heart condition. Although screening will not identify all young people at risk, in Italy where screening is mandatory for all young people engaged in organised sport, they have reduced the incidence of sudden cardiac death in this age group has been reduced by 89%*.

The Nic Willoughby Fund is funding Heart Screenings through CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in Aylesbury at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School on Wednesday 20th July 2022.This screening is now fully booked and will provide screenings for approximately 100 young adults aged 15-35.

The Nic Willoughby Fund are planning more screenings in Bucks in 2023/24.
